People Matter!
I've just spent the last two days at the Young Inventors International "Inventing the Future" Conference in Toronto. About 150 attendees crossed our doorstep.
Speakers included experts on intellectual property, early-stage financing, and technology transfer. As well, we were joined by some inspiring entrepreneurs - John Abele (Founder Chairman of Boston Scientific), Anthony Lacavera (CEO of Globalive Communications), and Dr. Douglas Barber (former CEO of Gennum Corporation).
The recurring (albeit not surprising) message: people matter. Customers, employees, partners, and many others are the innovator's most significant resources. Identifying the best - and the best fit for your objectives - is the key to success. Audit the skillsets that you and your current associates possess and seek out people to complement these skills and knowledge.
